“Trigger Happy”
Triggers have a way of shifting your mood and how you respond to situations, people, places, etc. What is a trigger? Triggers are feelings that manifest as frustration, uncomforting, or just being unsatisfied. When triggered at times we feel increased sadness, anxiety even panic attacks at times. Triggers stem from past trauma and result in some form of a flashback. Not always visual but emotional and exhibited in a behavior shift.
The first step in overcoming trigger symptom responses is to identify them. Take time to analyze times when you exhibit the following behavior:
1. Increased anger
2. Increase needy behavior
3. People-pleasing
4. Withdrawal
5. Blame shifting
6. Addiction
What happens when you are unaware of your emotional triggers?
Being unaware could lead to a life of unhappiness if left untreated and managed. The above behavior can lead to many difficulties in life. It can lead to relationship erosion, workplace difficulties, and loneliness and isolation. Addiction as we all know will lead to destruction and unhappiness for you and those in your circle.
Once you identify triggers, there are many tools and methods you can incorporate to take your life back and control your happiness.
1. Physical activity
2. Sleep
3. Counseling
4. Mindfulness (personal awareness)
5. Ensuring you keep positive energy within your circle
Triggers may not always be able to be erased.
But we can manage them to a point where we can be “Trigger Happy”
